Put County 's Surplus Toward Land Acquisition
for New High School.
Submitted 1/17
I attended the Perry Hall Improvement Association meeting on January 12 and heard the School Board President, Thomas Gryzmski, describe the process for building a new high school in northeast Baltimore County. Anyone who lives in Perry Hall knows that a new school is absolutely needed to reduce the overcrowding at our high school.
Governor Ehrlich has boosted state school construction money this year to a historic level, more than $280 million. However, none of the new funding for Baltimore County will go toward a northeastern high school, because it has not been included in the County Executive's priority list submitted to the Governor. I urge the County Executive to join with community leaders and not only support a new high school and the state money it will require, but to put some of the county's surplus toward land acquisition for this school.
